Dear Sir or Madam,
The Association Les Amitiés Musicales has the honor and the pleasure to bring to your attention that the ninth edition of the International Piano Competition Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem will take place in Rabat from the 1st to the 8th of July 2010.
Since 1994, the date when the contest was created, the members of the Association Les Amitiés Musicales, with the support of many different partners, have been working in order to achieve a common goal: to bring their modest contribution to the piano education of young people.
It’s thanks to the large participation of the candidates since the creation of the contest (more than 2000 participants) and the judgments brought by very professional juries (approximately 70 renowned pianists) that the contest have helped in the discovery of many talents (more that 1000 prize winners). The more talented ones were encouraged by the granting of prizes (more 500 prizes), fellowships, concerts and rewards at the end of the competitions.
However, in spite of this growing and continuous success, the contest should not turn away from one of its main characteristics which has always been to promote a qualitative participation rather than a large one.
The musical maturity required to take part to this kind of international competition involves several years of serious practice and a musical culture which will help the candidates in the understanding and performance of the works proposed in the repertoire.
For this reason, the ninth edition of this contest will undergo the following changes:
Throughout these modifications, the International Piano Competition Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem will pay particular attention to candidates that show more studiousness and sacrifice in order to continue to practice the Art of piano with rigor, passion and respect.
Hence, pianists, teachers, parents, musicians and music lovers who are faithful to the International Piano Competition Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem will all meet from the 1st to the 8th of July 2010 for the ninth edition which will pay homage to three great composers namely : ALBÉNIZ, CHOPIN and SCHUMANN.
